ASEF 25th Anniversary Logo Unveiled (1st April 2022)
On 1st April 2022, we unveiled the #ASEF25 logo and tagline – “Bringing Asia and Europe Together” – which was then used in a concerted social media campaign.
The logo draws inspiration from the complex puzzle of different cultures, languages, and histories across Asia and Europe. The pieces of the puzzle, represented in four different colours, highlight the intentional coming together of Asia and Europe for a common purpose, while preserving their individuality.
The 25th Anniversary logo must be viewed in its entirety, and not just the ‘sub logo’ on the left part of the design. Our design is deliberate and intended to make the parent ASEF logo as an integral and inseparable part of the 25th Anniversary logo. In sum, we cannot use the ’25’ on its own.
What makes the 25th Anniversary logo so special and original? First, it echoes the logo of ASEM’s 25th Anniversary last year, hence acknowledging the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Process. Second, it reiterates ASEF’s identity: the colours of the two continents and their similar juxtaposition. Third, the overlap of the numerals – 2 and 5 – form a puzzle or mosaic and the emergent colours. This represents our different cultures, languages, educational and governance approaches, thinking and history across Asia and Europe, yet intentionally coming together for a common purpose, while preserving our individuality. Fourth, the figure ’25’ is smaller than the ASEF parent logo to suggest movement, dynamism, and room for growth in the future.

Project Background
ASEF is celebrating its 25th Anniversary (#ASEF25) this year, a significant milestone since its formal establishment in February 1997, and remains the first and only permanent institution under the ASEM Process. ASEF has grown as an organisation: it started with only 26 members in 1997, and today boasts a membership of 51 countries and 2 regional organisations (ASEAN and the EU). Over the years, ASEF has worked hard to steadily build up a commendable portfolio of projects across various domain areas in order to carry out the organisation’s mandate to bring together the peoples of Asia and Europe to address common global challenges.

#ASEF25 Cake Cutting Ceremony at ASEF43rd BoG Meeting
Date: 23 June 2022
On the margins of the 43rd Board of Governors (BoG) Meeting hosted by Thailand in June this year, ASEF Senior Management together with the ASEF BoG held a cake-cutting ceremony as part of #ASEF25. The event while modest was nonetheless made more meaningful given that this was the first in person meeting of the ASEF BoG in two years since the start of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

ASEF-Temasek Polytechnic Partnership Marks #ASEF25 Anniversary

ASEF was honoured by the presence of its Guest of Honour, Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs at the signing ceremony for the MOU between ASEF and Temasek Polytechnic (TP). ASEF was represented by its Executive Director, Amb Toru Morikawa while TP was represented by its Principal and CEO, Mr Peter Lam. ASEF is delighted to enter into a partnership with TP – Singapore’s leading polytechnic institute with the first design school in a polytechnic. It has been a pioneer and a leader in design education since 1990. With a student body of 13,000 with over 100,000 alumni, it has a strong academic reputation with focus on industry partnerships. TP is an outstanding local partner for ASEF.
