ASEF organised a Strategy Development Workshop on Preparedness for Pandemics and Public Health Emergencies in the Passenger Air Transport Sector in Budapest, Hungary (15-16 December 2011).
During pandemics or any public health emergency, the air transport sector is highly affected. This workshop addressed such concern.
ASEF used ASEF-ASAP (Accurate Scenarios Active Preparedness) scenarios for pandemic preparedness as a tool to design the outcome of this workshop.
The event mapped current challenges in the preparedness plan of the passenger air transport sector. It framed the challenges in different scenarios in order to develop recommendations for improving current preparedness strategies.
Participants included experts from major airline companies, major airport hubs, government institutions, and international agencies in health and aviation sectors.
The outcomes of the workshop will be published in early 2012.
