The two–day workshop took place in Hanoi, Viet Nam, gathering representatives from the relevant ministries in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam working in implementing SDGs.
The workshop provided a space for the exchange of ideas and experiences between development experts and government officials involved in SDGs and those who had been involved in Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The conference was also designed to promote exchange on a regional and international level, inviting representatives from selected countries and as well as experts from Asia and Europe.
The workshop built on active participation and experts’ input. It consisted of:
- guidance presentations on SDG implementation,
- formal country presentations by representatives from CLMV countries on their experience with transitioning from MDGs to SDGs, as well as
- plenary discussions on various aspects of SDGs implementation.
The participants benefited from the expertise of regional and international experts, therefore fostering their understanding of current sustainable development challenges in Asia and Europe. They were strongly encouraged to interact with one another in order to test their ideas and develop a common dialogue.
