The United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) hosted the second annual Sustainable Development Transition Forum (SDTF) from 17-19 November 2015 in Incheon, Republic of Korea. The SDTF serves as a global platform for sharing knowledge in the formulation and implementation of sustainability programmes, reviewing evidence of impact and charting new and improved pathways for implementation. The SDTF, under this platform, brought together government representatives of developed and developing countries, civil society groups, United Nations and other international organizations, academic institutions, independent policy think tanks and sustainable development networks.
The Asia-Europe Environment Forum (ENVforum) has been an active contributor to this forum since the SDTF’s inception in 2014. This year, the ENVforum was in charge of a session entitled “International Workshop on Guidance for Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. This Workshop discussed guidance for mainstreaming the 2030 Agenda into national development plans and tailoring SDGs to national contexts, including guidance on financing and governance issues related to SDG implementation. The Workshop also featured the UNDG’s new MAPS strategy for Mainstreaming, Acceleration, and Policy Support. Participants from all three workshops featured in the SDTF were brought together in opening and closing plenary sessions to share key insights on integrated approaches and tools for sustainable development.
