OVERVIEW
At the 2nd ASEM Education Ministers’ Meeting held in Hanoi in May 2009, delegates from ASEM countries acknowledged that lifelong learning provides a stable framework for sustainable human resource development and suggested that in order to strengthen the development of lifelong learning in both Asia and Europe, it is necessary to have a clear definition and common understanding of the scope and activities of lifelong learning. The ASEM Lifelong Learning Conference provided a forum for representatives in charge of lifelong learning policies and strategies to discuss and address the ASEM objective.
