OVERVIEW
This meeting gathered close to 100 delegates representing more than 65 universities and higher education institutions from 25 ASEM member countries. It was officially opened by Singapore’s Minister of State for Education, Ng Eng Hen. Participants reviewed the current situation of the mobility of students, researchers, and faculty between Asia and Europe, and explored joint research and curriculum development activities between the two regions. They also discussed the merits of an inter-regional credit transfer system, as well as the potential for closer Asia-Europe co-operation in the field of borderless and continuing education.
After two days of discussions, participants identified the key issues and drew up an action plan to address the structural issues that restricted exchanges and co-operation in higher education between Asia and Europe.
