The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), has linked up with a consortium of top think tanks in both Asia and Europe to organise the Asia Europe Economic Forum (AEEF) programme.
The second conference to involve the support of ASEF, took place on 28-29 October 2013 in Beijing, China in partnership with the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Chinese Studies. Under the topic, “Challenges and Prospects for Asian and European Economies”, the 9th installment of the AEEF brought together top level economists from academemia, business, government agencies and think tanks from both Asia and Europe.
The conference tackled the latest economic issues facing Asia and Europe, including the prolonged Eurozone crisis, sovereign debt issues, global trade negotiations and the latest developments in the Chinese economy.
Established in 2006, the AEEF serves as a high level forum, offering Asian and European policy experts a platform for in-depth research-based exchanges on regional, inter-regional and global issues of mutual interest. The programme consolidates the linkages between economists, practitioners and institutions from both Asia and Europe.
The AEEF consortium consists of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), Bertelsmann Stiftung, Bruegel (overall secretariat), Centre d’Etudes Prospectives et d’Informations Internationales (CEPII), Institute of World Economic and Politics – Chinese Academy for Social Sciences, and Korea University.
