“A good group was put together even though the years of experience varied. I liked the mix of commercial-mainstream producers like Elliott Tong and the European producers as resource persons… I got a lot of benefits, especially the networking part.” – Lina Tan, producer, Malaysia
“I have made several new friends and I think I will actually co-produce with one of the producers from the event. I have learned a lot more about the difficulties of film producing in Asia and am realising how lucky we are in Europe. ” – Hillevi Raberg, producer, Sweden
OVERVIEW
Twenty-four young film producers from Europe and Asia attended this intensive programme as part of the 6th Jakarta International Film Festival. Ten resource persons (producers, distributors, film project critics, and festival organisers) gave insights on their experiences and opened the floor for a discussion with the film producers.
The two-day programme featured discussions on the different phases of film production, case studies, and a project clinic. The project clinic was organised in collaboration with The Festival Of Three Continents (Nantes, France), which has implemented a yearly workshop titled “Produire au Sud/Produce In The South” for filmmakers from Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
