The 2015 Regional Forum on Climate Change, hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), was held in Bangkok on 1-3 July 2015. The ENVforum organised a panel on climate finance to facilitate discussion on financial challenges arising from increased ambition in activities related to climate change. This panel was designed to contribute to negotiations and knowledge exchange leading up to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris (COP 21) later this year.
Prior to this panel, the ENVforum also organised a workshop on Climate Change and designed to promote Asia-Europe dialogue on climate change issues in preparation for the upcoming COP21. The training focused on addressing regional understanding of challenges on climate change, specifically focusing on negotiation processes and avenues of climate financing. This included up-to-date information on ASEAN climate change challenges and policies based on the study that was published in the Handbook for ASEAN Member States’ Government Officials on Climate Change and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Both the panel and the prior training were through a joint collaboration between the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the Hanns Seidel Foundation, and the French Regional Delegation for Cooperation with ASEAN.
The schedule of events was as follows:
1-2 July 2015 Climate Change Negotiations for Policy Makers from ASEAN Member Countries
3 July 2015 Panel on Climate Finance in the AIT Regional Forum on Climate Change
