OVERVIEW
Lifelong learning provides a solid framework for the sustainable development of human resource, which generates economic growth and social welfare, and enables individuals to pursue stimulating learning opportunities at all stages of their lives.
The Vietnam Forum On Lifelong Learning brought together over 200 policy makers, educators, ASEM Lifelong Learning Hub researchers, university leaders, and UNESCO experts to exchange views on lifelong learning. Participants shared the latest research findings, as well as developments in legislative, financial, and organisational frameworks for supporting lifelong learning in various ASEM countries. They also discussed good practices in developing and implementing lifelong learning strategies in ASEM countries.
The forum stimulated academic co-operation in lifelong learning research among ASEM universities, and strengthened ties between researchers and policy makers. It also helped create a joint UNESCO-ASEM initiative in promoting lifelong learning.
