The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the UN General Assembly in September 2015, whereupon countries were encouraged to take ownership of the process of implementing the SDGs in light of their their respective national realities, capacities, and priorities. The National Workshop on Sustainable Development Goals Implementation aimed to support this process by providing a platform for officials from the Viet Nam government to discuss how these global goals and targets could be incorporated into national planning.
This workshop was co-organised with the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and the Vietnamese Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE), and gathered participants from various line ministries, research institutions/universities, and development partners involved in the SDGs process in Viet Nam. Participants benefited from input presentations from international and locally-based experts, and took part in working groups to discuss localising SDGs into National Policy. The ultimate aim of the workshop was to enhance awareness among Vietnamese policymakers on SDGs and its targets, as well as to identify enabling conditions for SDGs implementation.
