OVERVIEW
This conference took a broad look at security trends in Asia and Europe, the role of the UN, and prospects for co-operation on security issues. About 60 participants representing 25 ASEM member countries attended the conference, where they could assess the security situation in both regions and at a global level by analysing recent trends. The conference was particularly relevant as it took place in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks in the US.
