OVERVIEW
The Asia-Europe Cultural Partnership Initiative was a scheme by the ASEF to encourage connections in the performing arts between Asia and Europe. From 1 February to 31 December 2010, the ASEF offered support ranging from 5,000EUR to 15,000EUR to organisations such as festivals, arts and cultural centres, performing arts venues, and associations for partnership initiatives with a clear Asia-Europe focus. The scheme brought about opportunities for networking, understanding, and co-operation between the two regions amidst the new challenges faced by the performing arts sector.
The ASEF received over 120 proposals for partnership. Together with an expert jury comprising Hiromi Maruoka,Ong Keng Sen, Catarina Saraiva, and Nan Van Houte, the ASEF shortlisted five proposals for further consideration and eventually provided funding for the following projects:
– Ignite Performing Arts Festival based in India
– ?IETM Satellite Meeting for Producers based in Belgium/Indonesia
– ?Time to Act Performance Art Showcase in based in Italy/Singapore
– Monsoon Dance Exchange based in Belgium
