OVERVIEW
The Ignite! Festival helped to encourage a dialogue on contemporary dance between artists and practitioners from Asia and Europe through performances, master classes, and seminars. More than 40 dance practitioners and practitioners from different ASEM countries took part in the four-day festival.
The programme included a series of innovative dance performances by Indian choreographers such as Padmini Chettur, Aditi Mangaldas, and Navtej Johar, which were presented alongside explorations by choreographers from Belgium, Norway, and the UK.
The ASEF shared its experience in supporting capacity building and networking in the field of contemporary dance in a seminar titled “Conceiving Connections.” This seminar, mediated by dance critic Sadanand Menon, produced an enthusiastic exchange among audience members, which included artists, choreographers, academics, as well as funders.
