OVERVIEW
Phase 2 of the ESiA project was carried out in two parts.
First, the ASEF organised a one-day preparatory meeting to plan ESiA’s upcoming workshop in Manila, Philippines. Following which, the organisers held a three-day methodology workshop to train the study’s researchers to conduct and analyse interviews in the five Asian countries included in the study — China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. The workshop was filmed by German television network Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF) for a special feature on the perceptions of the EU in Asia.
Those involved in this phase of the project included representatives of the ASEF’s Intellectual Exchange and People-to-People Exchange departments, the National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE), and Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines), as well as researchers from Fudan University and Hong Kong Baptist University (China), Korea University, Keio University (Japan), National University of Singapore, and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand).
