OVERVIEW
The Asia-Europe Young Artists’ Painting Competition was part of the ASEF’s programme to celebrate the 3rd Asia-Europe Summit in Seoul, Korea in October 2000. The painting competition was held on the theme “The New Millennium In My Dreams.” It was open to students from fine arts schools in ASEM member countries; 52 arts schools from 25 countries participated in the competition. The event sought to give European and Asian arts students the opportunity to show their talent, imagination, and creativity at an inter-regional level. Through the event, a network of young artists and arts institutions was established.
The following winners were selected from 167 entries:

A competition exhibition was held in Seoul Arts Centre on 18 October 2000 and the top three artists, together with 22 other young finalists, were invited to the exhibition’s opening.
