OVERVIEW
The 19th International Youth Forum was held to focus on current global issues that aggravate the living circumstances of human beings, and to examine how Asian and European youth — as leaders of the future — could contribute and participate in the global development.
The primary themes of the Youth Forum were:
– Environmental protection and climate change
– Education to eradicate poverty
– Decent work and unemployment
– Public health policy
– HIV/AIDS
– Gender equality
THE OBJECTIVES
– To encourage mutual understanding, co-operation, and deepening of ties between the youth from Asia and Europe
– To enable young people to identify possible solutions to global challenges and to take responsibility for their active involvement in solving problems
– To provide a space for young people to make contribute to the institutional process of ASEM
