OVERVIEW
Participants at this inaugural meeting consolidated and approved the frameworks for the Network and its partners, as well as agreed on the implementation schedules of the Network’s activities for 2010.?The partners present during the meeting included representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, the European Commission, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Organization for Migration, , Nestlé, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs — Pandemic Influenza Contingency, the United Nations System Influenza Coordination, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The Network also organised a seminar titled “Multi-Sector Pandemic Preparedness: Experiences from Asia and Europe.” This was a side event of the ASEAN Plus Three Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme Coordination Group Meeting, and underscored the challenges facing Asia and Europe in managing current and future pandemics. The seminar gave an overview and analysis of initiatives in the area of multi-sector pandemic coordination and preparedness, bringing together experiences from Asia and Europe.
