OVERVIEW
The workshop, a side event of the 18th Singapore International Film Festival, gathered six digital filmmakers to supervise a digital film made by film students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore. The filmmakers received the ASEF’s Cultural Grants to support their participation in the workshop:
– Tintin Wulia (Indonesia)
– Piotr Rosolowski (Poland)
– Tan Chui Mui (Malaysia)
– Khavn de la Cruz (Philippines)
– Roel Mondelaers (Belgium)
– Noh Dong Seok (Korea)
OBJECTIVES
– To offer a panorama of digital cinema movement in Asia and Europe, through public lectures by Park Kiyong (Korea) and Stig Bjorkman (Sweden)
– Provide an opportunity for up-and-coming digital filmmakers to share experiences and information during a four-day intensive workshop
– To raise awareness on the importance of digital film for the development and recognition of upcoming talents
The following short films were screened at Goethe Institute, Singapore on 30 May 2005:
– “Azan”
– “Waking Monkey”
– “Conversation”
– “Hush Booted”
– “Bad Time”
The films were compiled in a DVD, which also features a critical essay by film critic and film professor Alexis Tioseco as well as biographies of the workshop participants.
