Residencies: Spaces + Artists + Managers + Communities is a post event publication based on the conference RES ARTIS 05 Berlin (Sharing Cultures and Social Change, 10th General Meeting, 28 September – 2 October 2005). The Publication features reflections, shared experiences and proposals on artists in residence programmes, particularly in Asia and Europe. It discusses the challenges and possibilities of artist residency programmes; the relationship between the artists and local people, the influences of native environment, how to engage local communities in the creative process and the rapport of art managers and artists in residence. The book highlights the relevance of artists exchange and mobility as well as the importance of the roles of local communities with regard to the enrichment of culture and the arts.
