Reflections on Asian-European Epics is a collection of papers presented at the International Seminar on Asian- European Epics held from 27th to 30th of October 2002 at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It attempts to examine some of the world’s most important and enduring epics from various cultures in Asia and Europe. While attempting to re-evaluate the epic in itself as a literary genre, the papers, written by experts in their respective fields, discuss the role of epics as literary heritage, as documents of history and as sources of inspiration for the performing and visual arts.
