This is a report on the Asia-Europe Seminar on Diversity and Cultural Exchange in the Framework of Globalisation, held from 17th to 19th September, 2004 in Hanoi, Vietnam. The publication in French and English includes various contributions, discussions and debates which highlight the legal landmarks and social values directly bearing upon the cultural diversity issue. Reference is made to ways to protect cultural national identities in the context of globalization; promotion of arts and culture and international cooperation, mobility and status of artists, support of civil institutions, favoring cultural diversity over economic rules and analysis of dominant positions that negatively affect fair competition and cultural diversity. It also includes well defined recommendations resulting from exchanges between Asian and European partners.
