“Asia and Europe: Engaging for a Post-Crisis World” highlights the discussion among eminent newspaper editors and senior journalists during the 5th Asia-Europe Editors’ Roundtable, a flagship curtain-raiser event organised by ASEF on the occasion of the 8th Summit of Leaders of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM8). Written by Dr Gareth Price (Senior Research Fellow, Asia Programme, Chatham House), this paper explores the current trends in relationships between Europe and Asia. It analyses the challenges faced by both regions. It also examines the existing models of global governance, including the UN and the G20, and how these mechanisms can evolve to provide international stability.
The Roundtable was held on 3 October 2010, under the 4th Connecting Civil Societies of Asia and Europe Conference organised by ASEF with the support of the Federal Public Service, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Belgium.
