This publication is the outcome of the 4th ASEF University on ”Social Changes in Asia and Europe in the Age of Globalisation”, held in Singapore from 14th to 27th January 2001. Contributors from the disciplines of economics, political science, and sociology examine key factors influencing the pace of globalisation, as well as how these fast-paced changes affect people, institutions, and social values.
