The bi-annual AEYPM offers a platform for the younger members of national legislatures to develop awareness and understanding of issues that affect the political, social, and economic developments of their countries. The meetings were launched with the following objectives:
Participants comprise parliamentarians — usually representing both government and opposition parties from each ASEM member country, as well as the European Parliament — aged below 40, with a particular interest in issues concerning both regions.
