ASEF will partner the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) for the World Summit on Arts and Culture in Melbourne, Australia (3 – 6 October 2011). This global triennial arts and culture event of officials, artists and cultural organisations will involve over 400 delegates from 74 countries. The 5th World Summit is jointly hosted by IFACCA and the Australia Council for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Victoria.
At the Summit, ASEF will showcase its arts and culture portal culture360.org and present the new Asia-Europe Compendium of Cultural Policy programme. Part of the World Cultural Policy (World-CP) project led by IFACCA, it will expand on the existing Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe to include Asian countries.
In addition, ASEF will launch the publication of the papers from its Connect2Culture programme which worked with artists and cultural professionals on environmental issues. The publication will also include a directory of the programme’s alumni of almost 100 experts working in this field. One of the Summit’s roundtable events, titled “A Climate for Change?” will be hosted by ASEF as part of Connect2Culture (4 October).
The theme of the Summit, “Creative Intersections”, reflects ASEF’s role in connecting Asian and European artists and cultural professionals.
