The workshop on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be held on 5-6 November 2015 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The event is organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s (HSF) Viet Nam office and the Cambodian Ministry of Environment (MOE).
The event will bring together participants from various ministries in Cambodia that are involved in implementing the post-2015 development agenda. Participants will include representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Habilitation, and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. Important sustainable development challenges that Cambodia needs to address in coming years will be raised by policy-makers and experts from the field of sustainable development.
The workshop will include participatory working groups on important topics such as addressing climate change, improving human capital and reducing gender disparity in education. The working groups will identify and present solutions in implementing policies that would address these topics.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to the Asia-Europe Environment Forum (ENVforum) to present the findings of its upcoming publication “Who will pay for Sustainable Development Goals? Addressing Development Challenges in ASEM countries”. Mr Thierry SCHWARZ, Director for ASEF’s Political and Economic Department, will raise important issues in financing the implementation of SDGs.
