The workshop Climate Change Negotiation for Policy Makers from ASEAN Member Countries will take place on 18-19 June 2014 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The Asia-Europe Environment Forum (ENVforum) will facilitate this workshop to train ASEAN diplomats working on climate change issues.
The workshop will help increase awareness and foster regional cooperation in light of the upcoming international rounds of climate change negotiations like COP20 (in Peru 2014) and COP21 (in France 2015).
Participation in this workshop is by invitation only. The French Regional Delegation and the ASEAN Secretariat, with the support of French Embassies in the region, will select participants from respective ASEAN member states. ASEF will provide experts from its Political and Economic Department and other member institutions of the ENVforum.
The interactive nature of the workshop will include presentations on the status quo of climate change talks that will complement small group-work and discussions as well as a negotiation simulation. A manual on the status quo of climate change negotiations of ASEAN countries, prepared especially for the purpose of this training, will be distributed during the event.
The training will use some of the material ASEF employed in last year’s training for ASEAN diplomats, which took place at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The workshop Climate Change Negotiation for Policy Makers from ASEAN Member Countries is a joint collaboration between the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the French Regional Delegation for Cooperation with ASEAN and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
