Members of the Asia-Europe Museum Network (ASEMUS) gathered in Singapore on 13-14 May 2010 for a preparatory meeting to discuss and plan the Network’s upcoming General Conference on September 2010 in Paris.
The General Conference marks the 10th anniversary of ASEMUS, on which occasion the Network aims to expand its membership to include more museums from other ASEM countries. New partners are expected to actively carry forward the Network’s activities as well as identify and implement new projects and endeavours. The expected outcome of the conference will be a new ASEMUS action plan for implementation from 2011 to 2014.
During the meeting, participants discussed programme and agenda for General Conference, as well as established working groups for the planning of the network’s 10th Anniversary celebration. The meeting also explored new ideas regarding the future of the Network.
Museum representatives from the musée du quai Branly (France), National Museum of the Philippines (Philippines), Asian Civilisations Museum (Singapore) and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (Vietnam) were present during the meeting. The National Museums of World Culture, Gothenburg (Sweden) and the ASEMUS secretariat were also in attendance. The meeting was organised in collaboration with musée du quai Branly (France).
