As 1 March 2016 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), ASEM partners like the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Thailand celebrated the occasion by exhibiting the ASEF Photo Exhibition “On the Go” in their homeland.
The Netherlands shared a long history with Asia. Dutch sailors, merchants and adventurers sailed the Eastern waters in the early 17th century. Today, the relationship between Asia and Europe has widened and deepened. On the 1-11March 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands exhibited the photographs in the Town Hall of Hague. Representatives from the embassies of ASEM partners of Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines and Viet Nam, among others attended the official opening.
As Thailand hosted the inaugural ASEM1 in Bangkok on 1-2 March 1996, on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of ASEM, on 1 March 2016 HE Mr Chaisiri ANAMARN, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, together with HE Mr Tugsbilguun TUMURKHULEG, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand, and Asst. Prof., Ph.D. Charit TINGSABADH, Director of Centre for European Studies, Chulalongkorn University opened the photo exhibition. The opening of the exhibition was attended by representatives from the embassies of ASEM partners, students and journalists.
