In recent years, the world faced its greatest economic challenges as fragile financial markets persevere. Under such circumstances, a need for international monetary reform, still dominates headlines.

To discuss the relevance of multiple currencies in the current context, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, will present the 6th Asia-Europe Editors’ Roundtable at the InterContinental Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand (13 October 2012). The Bangkok Post is the official media partner for this event.

This top media programme, titled “Multiple Currencies for a Multi-polar World”, will have 20 senior media commentators and financial experts from 18 countries. They include eminent speakers from across the two regions namely – Dr Jae Ha Park (Asian Development Bank Institute), Dr Xu Qiyuan (Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Mr David Pilling (Financial Times), Mr Pichai Chuensuksawadi (Bangkok Post) and Mr Pierre Rousselin (Le Figaro).

A Closing Reception will be organised on the eve of the 10th ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) in Bangkok.  Participation in the Reception is limited to about 50 esteemed guests including policy makers, senior members of the diplomatic corps, media representatives, financial experts and academia.
