The Asia-Europe Environment Forum (ENVforum) launched a new report Sustainable Development Goals and Indicators for a Small Planet – Part II: Measuring Sustainability on Monday, 17 November 2014 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This innovative study consists of a set of illustrative Sustainable Development Indicators (SDIs). These indicators reflect the selected countries’ respective priorities, goals and targets on sustainable development.
Speaking at the Hanoi launch was Professor Laszlo PINTER, senior fellow at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and professor at the Central European University. Additional contributors to the event included representatives from the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE), ENVforum members – Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Viet Nam and the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).
Viet Nam was selected as the location for the Asian launch of the report as the country will be the geographical focus of a detailed case study that will be included in the final report in the series. This edition is due for publication in the first half of 2015.
The Hanoi event was a follow-up on the official European launch of the publication, which took place during the ENVforum’s conference on 29-30 September 2014in Brussels, Belgium.
