More than 70 researchers, policy-makers and academic practitioners from over 18 ASEM partner countries gathered on 8-10 November 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, at the ASEM Lifelong Learning Hub Conference on “Lifelong Learning and Resilience in Disaster Management – Asian and European Perspectives.” Participants explored the ‘burning issues’ relating to education, lifelong learning and disaster management, which were documented as recommendations for researchers, policy-makers and academic practitioners.
The workshops and panels focused on several interrelated sub-topics of disaster management through the lens of lifelong learning, including: risk identification and preparedness; restoring heritage and sustaining cultural integrity; resilient recovery; and risk reduction and prevention.
All presentations and other resources from the conference are published by the organisers, ASEM LLL Hub (Danish School of Education of Aarhus University), in cooperation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish Ministry for Children, Education and Gender Quality, and supported by ASEF. The recommendations from the conference will be tabled at the 6th ASEM Education Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM ME6) in 2017 in Korea.
