The cultural policy profiles of India, Korea and Vietnam, commissioned for the WorldCP-International Database of Cultural Policies are now publicly accessible on culture360.org, ASEF’s arts and culture portal and on worldcp.org.
The profiles offer a comprehensive overview of arts and culture in the said countries and could serve as a useful reference tool for policymakers, cultural practitioners, journalists and researchers. They are the first profiles commissioned for WorldCP-Asia, a major initiative to document the cultural policies of Asian countries.
The profiles were launched at the ASEF Experts’ Meeting and Public Forum on Creative Economy in Asia and Europe: Emerging Pillar of Economic Growth & Development on 4-5 December 2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam in the presence of project partners, the regional editor for Asia, Anmol VELLANI and authors, Ashish RAJADHYAKSHA and Raghavendra TENKAYALA (India), Kiwon HONG (Korea) and BUI Hoai Son (Vietnam).
The WorldCP initiative is led by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). ASEF serves as the secretariat for WorldCP-Asia and supports the funding of profiles as well as the co-ordination with national agencies for culture in Asia. Regional partners include Arts Council, Mongolia; Korean National Commission for UNESCO; Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Singapore; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam; and Ministry of Education, Culture & Science, Mongolia.
The profiles of Mongolia and Singapore are expected to be launched in 2014, along with updated versions of the profiles of India, Korea and Vietnam.
