Eentrepreneurship is increasingly attractive as a career option for many young people across Asia and Europe. The idea is also capturing the attention of governments and corporations for a more holistic take on job creation. Together with the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SESS), ASEF will organise the ASEF Experts’ Meeting on “Social Entrepreneurship in Asia and Europe: Re-engineering Tactics on Youth Employment” from 29 June to 1 July 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden. The participants will explore, map and discuss possible synergies and pending needs in entrepreneurship and youth employment from 5 perspectives:

  1. How social enterprises work to instil employability skills among youth and which milestones are still ahead
  2. How corporations address youth employment and which supporting mechanisms still need to be developed
  3. How policies are formulated to stimulate youth employment and which gaps still need to be addressed
  4. How education fosters entrepreneurship across all walks of life and the challenges faced in modelling a curriculum that encompasses industry requirements, and
  5. How the start-up scene vitalises job-creation and could overcome the challenge of scaling growth

As part of ASEF’s education programme portfolio, the Experts’ Meeting will also kick-start a long-term engagement and facilitate cooperation among Asian and European organisations to work on entrepreneurship and youth employment. Furthermore, the outcome will feed into the 1st ASEF Young Leaders’ Summit on Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment, which will take place on 1-5 November 2015 in conjunction with the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM12) in Luxembourg.
