“Values permeate the business,” —this is the basic idea behind social enterprises. This remark was shared by Mr Jeremy Nicholls from the Social Return on Investment Network. Jeremy was the key facilitator for the Skills for Social Entrepreneurs workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam (18-20 June 2012). This ASEF workshop was co-organised with the British Council and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
The workshop focused on how to measure social impact created by social entrepreneurs. A group of about 30 young social entrepreneurs from 13 countries participated in this workshop. It was an opportunity for them to learn and share their experiences. “We (ASEF) expect more bi-regional collaboration through this initiative,” said Mr Paul Koh, ASEF Director for Public Affairs.
Besides group discussions and networking sessions, all participants, along with local and international media representatives visited local social enterprises in Hanoi. These enterprises work in the fields of non-formal education, vocational training and public health.
This workshop in Hanoi was a follow up from the Yangon workshop in May.
