ASEF will organise a workshop ‘Political Parties and the Citizen’ on 14-16 November in Yangon, Myanmar. The project focuses on how political parties interact with citizens and citizen movements in countries across Asia and Europe.
The project consists of 2 components. First is a publication consisting of comparative case studies looking at interesting examples of citizen and political party engagement from across Asia and Europe. Second is the workshop itself, which will further review and refine the case studies while also bringing together experts and representatives from citizen movements and political parties from both regions. Overall the project addresses the challenges that political parties, citizen movements and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) face in interacting with each other.
The organisers of the workshop are the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA).
