The third online edition of the Asia-Europe Sustainable Connectivity Scientific Conference (AESCON) was held on 14-15 June 2023.
AESCON3 focused on a key priority area for the two regions: Digital Connectivity. With an emphasis on the intersection of human-centric and resilient digital transformation, the conference reflected on the digital partnerships between Asia and the EU, as well as the fast-changing global geo-political and geo-economic landscape.
Ambassador MORIKAWA Toru, ASEF Executive Director, delivered opening remarks on 14 June at 9AM (Brussels time)/3PM (Singapore time).
“By creating a peer-to-peer collaborative working environment, we can harness the potential of digital connectivity to address common global challenges focusing particularly on fostering sustainable development, enhancing human rights and ensuring resilient and secure connectivity.”

The conference featured four panel discussions mobilising diverse Asian and European expertise over two half-days, privileging a multistakeholder approach to digital connectivity challenges and opportunities:
Thematic session 1: Bridging regional interests and global challenges in digital connectivity
Thematic session 2: Enhancing human rights through digital connectivity
Thematic session 3: Securing resilience through cybersecurity cooperation
Thematic session 4: Disaster preparedness and prevention
