This publication provides a detailed account of the seminar proceedings of the 13th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights: Human Rights and the Environment held on 21-23 October 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The book covers the key concepts discussed regarding inter-connections between sustainable development, human rights and environmental protection, in the face of increasing environmental degradation and climate change. The outcomes that emerged through the working group discussions during the seminar are also shared in the publication. The discussion topics included: access to information, participatory rights and access to justice; actors, institutions and governance; and climate change and human rights implications.

The aim of the Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights series is to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Asia and Europe in the area of political dialogue, particularly on human rights issues. The 13th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights was organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (nominated by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs. It was hosted by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
