Alongside the 31st ASEF Board of Governors’ Meeting, ASEF’s Executive Director, Ambassador ZHANG Yan, met the Latvian Minister of Education and Science, Professor Ina DRUVIETE, on 27 May 2014 in Riga, Latvia.
During their meeting, they discussed in length the potential of the 5th ASEM Education Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM ME5) to be hosted by the Latvian Government on 27-28 April 2015 in Riga. Ambassador ZHANG also updated the Minister on the details of the 4th ASEM Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC4) that ASEF will organise in Asia jointly with its partners prior to ASEM ME5.
ARC4 on “University-Business Partnerships: Asia and Europe Seeking 21st Century Solutions”, The ASEM Rectors’ Conference (ARC4) will address how universities can better cooperate with the business sector to equip students with employability skills, foster entrepreneurship, and create new learning environment through information and communication technologies.
ASEF and the Latvian Ministry of Education have been in close contact regarding ASEM ME5 and the Ministry welcomes the ARC4 conference’s policy recommendations as a valuable contribution to ASEM ME5.
