Signing Ceremony for
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU):
Partnership between Asia-Europe Foundation
(ASEF) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP)
Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, will be the Guest of Honour at the MOU signing between ASEF and TP. The MOU will set the stage for partnership and collaborative activities in areas of design, communication, and global studies from an Asia-Europe perspective.
On 18 July 2022, ASEF and TP will be signing the MOU, in the presence of the Guest of Honour, Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs. ASEF will be represented by its Executive Director (ED), Amb Toru Morikawa while TP will be represented by its Principal and CEO, Mr Peter Lam.
ASEF is delighted to enter into a partnership with TP – Singapore’s leading polytechnic institute with the first design school in a polytechnic. It has been a pioneer and a leader in design education since 1990. With a student body of 13,000 with over 100,000 alumni, it has a strong academic reputation with focus on industry partnerships. TP is an outstanding local partner for ASEF.
As a follow-up to the MOU, the Minister and the ASEF ED will host a Fireside Chat with TP students on Asia-Europe relations and ASEF’s role therein on the occasion of ASEF’s 25th Anniversary (#ASEF25). 2022 marks ASEF’s Silver Jubilee. 25 years ago, ASEF was established by ASEM foreign ministers as the only permanent institution of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to bring Asia and Europe closer through three pillars of intellectual, cultural and educational exchange.
With growing global challenges and pressing domestic priorities, ASEF is more relevant than ever. Partnerships based on common values and long-term vision, like this MOU with TP, are part of ASEF’s attempt to reposition itself in the coming years.
