The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) supports Occupy The Museum, a series of dance performances and public dialogues that will take place in the framework of the exhibition Danced Creation at the Weltmuseum Wien, formerly known as the Museum of Ethnology.

The highlight of this performance will be the presentation of the lives and works of contemporary artists in relationship to historical artefacts from the museum. Themed lectures and public discussions will enable viewers to experience a new approach to the museum’s collection, which has recently been enhanced through new interactive components.

Singaporean artist and choreographer Ong Keng Sen will moderate  the Occupy the Museum event series. The exhibition and events are curated by Dr. Jani Kuhnt-Saptodewo, Curator, Weltmuseum Wien and coordinated by Maria Darmaningsih, Vice Dean for International Cooperation at the Faculty of Performing Arts, Jakarta Institute of Arts, who helped select six Asian artists to co-curate and choreograph performances and installations. This event series is organised alongside the Impulstanz Festival.

Occupy The Museum is supported through ASEF’s programme, Creative Encounters: Cultural Partnerships between Asia and Europe. It is conceptualised and organised by  Weltmuseum Wien (formerly known as Museum of Ethnology Vienna) (Austria), Jakarta Institute of Performing Arts (Indonesia) and ImPulsTanz (Austria)
