ASEF Public Health Network is set to speak at the World AMR Congress in Washington, DC (US) on 7-8 September 2022. This is the world’s largest AMR conference for all stakeholders combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
Ms Riko KIMOTO, Manager for International Public Health at ASEF, is going to host both a panel session and a roundtable to reiterate the importance of international collaboration and global action to address AMR as well as to promote a fruitful dialogue on adopting a health system approach as a practical way to combat AMR.

PANEL SESSION | Antimicrobials’ market failures and international collaboration: Linking up with Health Systems | September 7 | 3.30pm
Antimicrobials are an essential component of health systems, and addressing AMR is vital for building sustainable UHC. This session will examine the importance of international collaboration in addressing the market failures of antimicrobials, including R&D as well as commercialisation, using the health system approach. The panellists will discuss options for international collaboration to mitigate AMR via health systems for a sustainable future and better global health security.
ROUNDTABLE 4 | Addressing the market failures for antimicrobials using a health system approach: A message for the 2023 G7 Summit | September 8 | 1.40pm
This session will examine the linkage between Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Antimicrobials are defined as an essential component of health systems, and addressing AMR is vital for building sustainable UHC. In other words, UHC can be a tool to combat AMR. The panellists will discuss how AMR can be mitigated using health systems and how we can address the market failures for antimicrobials, including R&D and commercialisation, within health systems.
