The 3 winners of the ASEF photo contest On the Go have been announced. They were selected from more than 1,500 entries from 50 ASEM member countries. The photographs remind us once again that Asians and Europeans still hold many common values and share similar visions.
The 2 jury prizes have been awarded to “On the boat” by Ms Berta TILMANTAITE from Lithuania and “Seeing the outside change” by Mr Ritagnik BHATTACHARYA from India. Both win a trip to Singapore, where they will be hosted for a one-week artistic residency at LASALLE College of the Arts. The winner of the audience choice with a maximum number of online public votes is “The Nomads of Rajasthan” by Ms Roli MAHAJAN, India. All the winners will also receive a gift voucher for camera gears.
The competition was judged on creativity and photographic quality by a panel of experts including Mr Gisli SNAER, Head of the Puttnam School of Film of the LASALLE College of the Arts, Ms Gwen LEE, Director of the Singapore International Photography Festival, and Mr Stefen CHOW, an accomplished photographer.
All winning entries and a further selection of shortlisted photographs will be published in a photo book and showcased in an exhibition alongside the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM12) on 4 November 2015 in Luxembourg. Later the photos will be exhibited in some capitals in Asia and Europe including Singapore, Brussels and Ulaanbaatar, where the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) will be celebrated in July 2016.
