From 3-4 October 2022, ASEF’s Education Department joined the Social Inclusion and Engagement in Mobility (SIEM) Conference in Brussels, Belgium, led by the Erasmus Student Network
Almost 200 participants were brought together for the two-day event, including representatives of the European Commission, professionals, international officers, policymakers, Erasmus+ National Agencies, Ministries working on education & youth, and students and youth representatives from all over Europe and beyond. The conference is an important step towards making international mobility opportunities more inclusive and enabling students from all backgrounds to study, work, or volunteer abroad.
The conference served as a timely occasion to present the main outcomes of the SIEM project. The Erasmus Student Network launched the project in collaboration with and cross-European partnership between UUKi the European University Foundation, YES Forum, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (BE), University of Vigo (ES), Masaryk University (CZ), University of Latvia (LV), ESN Spain (ES) and ESN France (FR). During the SIEM Conference, the Erasmus Student Network also introduced the Erasmus Generation Portal which connects useful services for students, improves peer-to-peer information about student mobility, increases civic engagement, and measures the social impact of exchange.
ASEF and ESN are long-standing partners in various efforts promoting inclusion in international higher education. Both ASEF and ESN work toward strengthening people-to-people connections in Higher Education. ESN has been an active partner in Higher Education Projects of ASEF, providing valuable insights on inclusion and mobility, particularly during the biennial ASEF Regional Conference on Higher Education (ARC). ASEF is a member of the Advisory Board of the Erasmus Student Network.
Mr Miguel PANGALANGAN, Project Executive of the ASEF Education Department, was invited to join and speak at the panel on Mobility outside of the Erasmus+ programme – How can we make it inclusive?
