From 15 – 31 August 2022, the Asia-Europe Institute at the University Malaya, and the TH Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, hosted the AEI ASEM Summer School 2022 with the theme of ‘Civic Engagement and Sustainable Development’. The Summer School aims to enhance the balanced mobility of students, researchers and academics between Asia and Europe.
On 23 August 2022, ASEF was invited to host a session as a ‘Virtual Visit to ASEF’ as part of the programme. Ms Réka TÓZSA, Acting Director of the Education Department, with Ms Freya CHOW-PAUL and Mr Quentin FAYET, co-coordinators of ASEF’s Youth Programme, delivered a session highlighting ASEF’s work in Education and approach to Youth Leadership capacity Building. They led the cohort of students in a brainstorming activity to give them a taste of ASEF’s work and to support their Summer School learning experience. As part of the Summer School, they are required to present on youth-led initiatives in their countries, so as to inspire them, the ASEF team shared a number of initiatives from the ASEFYLS4 and ASEFSU23.
