The ASEF Capacity Training on Public Speaking and Negotiation took place on 27 and 28 June 2016 in Manila, the Philippines. Organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) in partnership with the Far Eastern University (FEU), the training gathered 60 local Filipino and international students.
The 2 one-day trainings were led by Ms Katherine HERMANS, Director of Global Changemakers, a non-profit NGO based in Switzerland. Ms Deena Joy D. AMATONG from the Filipino Department of Foreign Affairs and Dr Maria Teresa Trinidad P. TINIO from FEU delivered welcoming remarks.
During the training, participants had the opportunity to assess how they speak and present themselves as well as how they can best engage in negotiations. They prepared pitches and participated in simulation exercises where multiple parties were involved in negotiations over international investments in their country.
The training was a spin-off of the Model ASEM project series. It contributed to the 7th Model ASEM conference on 6-10 July 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, which took place in conjunction with the 11th ASEM Summit (ASEM11).
