The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) in partnership with the National University of Laos (NUOL) and the Global Changemakers organised the 2nd ASEF Capacity Training 2017 series on “Public speaking and leadership skills“ on 9–10 October 2017 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
The trainings were directly linked to the 2nd ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS2) on “Access to Youth Employment“, which took place on 16–21 September 2017 in Seoul, Korea.
Moreover, the two days trainings were attended by about 30 local students, entrepreneurs and young professionals. They participated in sessions conducted by Ms Katherine HERMANS, Director of Global Changemakers, a non-profit NGO based in Switzerland.
Participants engaged in the interactive workshop modules that featured role-playing fused with preparatory exercises, before taking the stage to deliver a public speech in front of an audience.
Lastly, the project’s core objectives were to:
- Extend the opportunity for the applicants of ASEFYLS2 on a local level through a skills-focused agenda
- Organise small-group mentorship and guidance in leadership between local young leaders and internationally renowned professionals
- Further develop the Asia-Europe platform for emerging leaders in the ASEM partner countries they are held
