ASEF’s website film.culture360.org and the DVD project 10 Lessons in Film were presented at TROPFEST Roughcut on 28-29 June 2013 in Penang, Malaysia.
Organised as part of the month-long George Town Festival, TROPFEST Roughcut comprised of a symposium on film and screenings that engaged film professionals, educators, short film enthusiasts and producers. Over 200 delegates attended the symposium, which opened with a masterclass by renowned Hong Kong-based cinematographer Christopher Doyle. The symposium also included presentations from filmmakers and film promoters such as Michael Laverty (Managing Director, Tropfest International), Banjong Pisanthanakun (Thai film director) and Herman Van Eyken (Head of Griffith Film School and curator of 10 Lessons in Film).
ASEF presented its film programmes and shared one of the interviews featured in the DVD, 10 Lessons in Film, with film professionals from the region. TROPFEST Roughcut was organised in anticipation of the first regional edition of TROPFEST South East Asia, a short film competition and festival scheduled for January 2014 in Penang, Malaysia.
