The 15th Informal ASEM Seminar on Human Rights on Human Rights and Trafficking in Persons convened on 24-26 November 2015 in Montreux, Switzerland. Bridging over 125 participants including civil society experts, private sector representatives and senior government representatives from across Asia and Europe, the seminar aimed at developing recommendations to strengthen human rights in relation to anti-trafficking measures.
During the seminar, participants concurred that more focus needs to be directed at developing preventive action and victim protection strategies. Hence, to address these gaps, four key aspects were highlighted for debate: preventive measures, protection and assistance of trafficked persons, access to justice, and international cooperation against trafficking.
Ms Madina JARBUSSYNOVA, OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings, and Ms Myria VASSILIADOU, EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator will be among the keynote speakers at this event.
The seminar series is organised by ASEF, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs. The 15th Informal ASEM Seminar was hosted by Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland.
